Personally, I put a lot of effort into writing my blog posts, some of which have been really well viewed by humans. While mine is effectively a "hobbyist" site, it's nice when readers look at other blog posts as a result of reading the original one. Google's approach ensures that readers get a very narrow view of my content, so everybody expect Google loses out.

This, unfortunately, is the biggest problem those of us care about privacy face, especially when trying to warn people about it.

The discussion around privacy is always framed the wrong way.

The authoritarians use the red herring of "nothing to hide", while the liberals only argue on the most sensational abuse cases or somewhat flimsy high-minded principles.

The correct way to get the layperson to care is with a visceral reaction using the relevant buzzwords: "sabotage", "gangstalk", "bully", "witch hunt", etc.

It makes zero sense that the same people who fight so hard over gun rights can completely ignore all the other much uglier ways the powers-that-be can threaten your livelihood.

Nobody ever spells out what "overpolicing" really looks like. Nobody makes clear enough that "the government" is what we call it when we give your literal neighbor special privileges.

TUIs are great and I shall continue to write and use them while I can still see a screen! My use case is to mainly use Termux on my ruggedised Android tablet, simply because I can't install a native Linux on it. I like the speed and efficiency of a TUI as well as the fact that I can maintain it with vi or nano. I've installed XFCE4 on it for fun but the extra, necessary library baggage isn't really worth it, TBH. It also means I can use the same stuff on my Onion Omega 2 SBC with minimal tweaking.

At least it wasn't the 1936 Berlin Olympics stadium...

Sigh .. same here. I don't write blog posts often (enough) but the ones I do write are from personal experiences and I take a lot of care with them. I look at my logs snd see bots everywhere, but now I just let them get on with it. AI scrapers are different though; they get to read my content which, just for them contains a smsttering of finest digital toxin. A pox on your datasets!

Agreed, and chances are that due to the nature of the event bring reported, we as readers are unable to influence it in sny way. Therefore a couple of weeks delay will make mo difference.
