It could be argued that Turkish and simplified Chinese succeeded simply because they were supported by, you could even say imposed by, a government that controls > 90% of the population speaking the language. Neither was the case for Arabic: there is no single government spanning that proportion of Arabic speakers, and from how I read the article, it seems no government really supported Unified Arabic to any extent even remotely comparable to Turkish and simplified Chinese.

This is what I think about grammar. Yes, it’s a little arbitrary but it makes you think a little more about your writing. That’s why I try to use correct grammar in text messages. I don’t push this on anyone because most people don’t like to think about word choice, but I am a writer at heart. Still I have to bite my tongue every time someone sends me a text message “hi am here”

Have you considered that by adhering to the arbitrary rules of grammar you are forgoing a realm of poetic opportunity?

I think small children learning language learn in a way similar to LLM's, just saying words that seem appropriate to the situation without any understanding of the meaning. But a key difference in my mind, is they use the reactions to this text prediction to help them construct a picture of the world, which then can interact with their thinking of what words to say.

No doubt. The maintainability of the code should definitely be scrutinized and improved. Quality in general should be maximized.

Doesn't change the fact that working code does have value. If your program didn't do something before and it does now, that absolutely has value.

One factor here is how systems become more or less prone to creating great or mediocre men. Inbreeding, isolation, over romanticism of emotions, all these are factors that can make a dangerous inconsistent person more likely to appear in the halls of power

A little off topic but my position is that a Linux distribution ought to be a series of build options, package selection and configuration. Ultimately, you should be able to do this in a few files.

The fact that it takes so much more to put together a Linux distribution is I think something that the Linux ecosystem ought to aspire to change.
