I was part of the npm team at GitHub. They laid off almost the entire team to focus on AI (CTO literally told us on the layoff announcement call that they're doing this to focus on Copilot)

A result of their performance-review driven development. Every engineer, product manager and team is focused on one thing only. Get through the reviews. That means building feature after feature, projecting revenue/cost savings that may not materialize.

No one is focused on quality of the feature. It is all about speed. No one stops and thinks that may be users doesn't care about it. Data science teams are focused on cherry-picking data in a way that shows positive impact to show to the leadership that things are working. Engineers and teams are disincentivized to improve existing features, performance issues(unless it impacts revenue/some enterprise customer complains) and sometimes being punished for it. They are also steadily downsizing their support teams to cut costs.

Things are not going to improve. You should move away.

I was in Atlassian and one of the impacted. Company spent ridiculous money on acquisitions and marketing and AI is the scapegoat.

I think that just as AWS, Stripe and few other players cornered the infrastructure and payment market, as things scale and consolidate, few players will control the nodes and control the blockchain as well. So things won't change much.

No, and it is dumb to provide real info unless really needed for some reason.

Maybe it could be argued that providing real info is unethical if you know about entire situation, and by providing fake info you protect a bit people who naively shared real info.

WhiteHatJr's ads are everywhere now from tv to newspaper and their parent company BJYU is valued at $10B. I cannot believe a company can openly do such shady business, that too in educational sector and government doesn't bat an eye. :(

There is a counterpart to white hat hacking.... Not that I would ever advocate for anything illegal.

XBox Series X gpu is even more powerful and I think they are more like RTX 2070 class GPUs. They make money on subscriptions and games and probably just selling hardware without profit.
