Yes, this line made me angry. Privileged people from first world countries like these will increase their products prices for growth & more profit saying it's very cheap anyways.

Meanwhile common people in other countries can't even think about buying a proper gaming PC now. I bought a pre owned gpu, it stopped working after 5 months and I lost my savings.

I see and also had some immediate reaction when somebody mentions a $75k figure and says “cheap”.

But I think the point really here is that computers are cheap in relation to other items you can buy. Not cheap as in “small part of my wealth”, but as in “about equally much money as something that is not as impressive (as a computer)”.

And I really agree. I think it’s amazing that I can get eg a computer I find fast for the price of a kind of bad sofa. 2nd hand MacBook M1 vs dinner for 4 at a nice restaurant.

Computers are cheap!

It was cheaper than it is now after the AI stuff. I don't think people buying and using computers makes them expensive. Your anger is misplaced.

Be angry instead at companies who won't even comply with the most ridiculously basic laws. They are the ones causing all those problems.

He is an American so 'first world' is kind of debatable now with Trump. /s

If it's lossless, it may change the cut position to enable lossless. If you want cut at an exact place, then all apps need to re-encode which will never be lossless.

For your particular requirement, you can't get lossless quality all the time by any software.

LosslessCut gives you the option to cut at the nearest keyframe, or to re-encode the small portion from the chosen timestamp to the next key frame (at most a few seconds). Sounds lossless enough to me.

Are you talking about cutting on an I-frame? Can't an I-frame be converted into a P-frame and then inserted into the stream?

Yes. Seems like accounts are made by fb/meta to support them in hn.

Really? You oppose any form of parental controls existing in an OS and you think anyone who supports them is a Meta shill?

Meh. It's a trick by facebook and others to harvest data and blame people later saying people volunteered the data.

Feels like hn is filled with these proxy accounts to support fb, google.

But they get less data because of this, not more. They're supporting this to offload liability, not to get more data.

3rd world sweatshop workers who are exploited by filthy rich.

Meh. Those are just Making meaningless things that tracks users, hogs computer resourses, showing nonsense social media posts, brainrot contents, changing things constantly to put in their resume at the expense of users. Would prefer if these people did not exists in first place.

Your site is non trivial.

Nope. It's not "attacking own user base". These comments are ridiculous now. It's safeguarding a open project by removing scammers and abusers that exploit it. Scammer should host their own or use github.

Banning projects that haven't done anything wrong except implement algorithms that the Karen committee disagrees with is clearly an attack.

If they want to ban scammers then why don't they just ban scammers instead of a blanket policy that bans legitimate projects as well?

Implying that anyone who makes crypto or AI projects is somehow a scammer/abuser?

Too many scammers in crypto. It's a good decision. Cryptos and scammers can host their own.

Are these comments written buy bots? It's the mainstream ones that have been screwing people without any recovery options, there were many horrifying top posts in hn itself in last few years.
