Libraries have been trying to do exactly this (digitising) for many years, without funding. Imagine the wealth of human knowledge that might be in proprietary llms after this? Will there be a path back to the source material? I hold out hope that this digitisation effort will preserve the digitised source materials in the public domain somewhere
More proportionally or more in total? Just wondering what the cost/benefit calculation is like when deciding how much to invest in the iOS user experience
It’s the kind of thing that would suck all enjoyment out of watching sports for me personally. I may well be in a minority though, possibly an old person thing too
Fellow old here too. I enjoy it because there's a lot of sports I follow intermittently. For instance I enjoy watching UFC on occasion, but often find by the time I catch another fight I often have no clue who the guys in the main event are!
I think I enjoy the odds because it adds a sort of unspoken storyline to a fight, because those fighters themselves also know who's the underdog and it adds a bit of a psychological edge to the contest.
It's a lot like watching a chess game where the same stuff unfolds where you expect the favorite to push. Will the underdog look to survive, try to come and prove he's not to be taken lightly, and so on. Good times.
I feel the same way, the odds are part of the story. The UFC has removed them now, I guess as part of the Paramount deal. This actually makes the events less interesting.
By the way, the UFC chews through athletes so fast (part of their somewhat exploitative business model), it's no wonder it's hard to keep up with the latest names.
I’m torn. It’s a great thing to share knowledge and take feedback graciously. Maybe this kind of comment will encourage more of that. But you also need people to tell you what is up without unnecessary filters. It’s a challenge
The only reason I ever read HHGTTG as a kid is because it was on a bookshelf at home and I eventually got bored enough to pick it up. I don’t currently have an ebook equivalent of that for my kids
I’ll often use a quick brain break like this to do a tiny bit of exercise, e.g. walk on the spot, plank. This means staring at a wall (or the floor) anyway plus you get the blood flowing. Most appropriate would probably be wall sit while staring at the opposite wall!
