I agree that clear cut life objectives are important. This generates a competing interest which is the best way to defeat any addiction.

But working on non-impactful personal projects is also not as bad as doomscrolling twitter. Personal projects are a good way to build skill and grow your own confidence. Twitter doesn't build anything of significance.

Try meditation.

If you're completely new to the idea I suggest the book With Each & Every Breath by Thanassiro Bikkhu. It's a Therevada Buddhist book but the breathing meditation instructions in it can be applied even if you want to ignore the other parts of the book.

If you're the sort of person who ignores parts of a book you're reading, try Mindfulness in Plain English by Bhante G.

I am self-employed but I'm tempted to replicated buffer in-house for my social media management. I feel that they are adding a bunch of pointless features while the core of the product is less and less stable.

I'm working on my second commercial game. It's called Paradox Tower.

The game is meant to look like a retro RPG, but it's more of a puzzle about finding the optimal path. You must grab as many power ups as you can to level up your stats, while avoiding monsters to conserve your health.

It's inspired by a niche genre of puzzle/RPG called Magic Towers. If you already know Desktop Dungeon, Soulestination or Tactical Nexus, it's kinda the same idea.

I have simply cared about "optimizing output" long ago. Ironically, I think I ship a lot more stuff than people who waste all their time optimizing their life away.

Somehow in the Netherlands it seems we have mostly managed to escape this. But it's just because people didn't really put any decoration on their menus before, and no decoration is still cheaper than shit AI decorations.
