Wow, an Amiga still running 30 years later, 24/7! That's solid hardware. As a former Amiga owner, I find this impressive.


There are still several forums full of current Amiga users [1] [2] [3] [4] being the most prominent English language ones. The most amazing thing is that there is still new hardware expansion being designed and manufactured for the original machines...

Those kind of results are why I encourage copying past designs for new hardware projects in safety-critical space. Especially NonStop architecture, which is patent-free now. Take one of older ones, make it 32-64 bit, put modern interfaces on it, put it on an older SOI process node for reliability, optional lockstep, and the result should run very well for a very long time.
